Mark Mastalski

Mark is an educator and entrepreneur at heart. He grew up in northern Wisconsin and received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Following 22 years of higher education experience at UW-Madison and Fort Lewis College, Mark launched his own independent college consulting business - Mastalski Coaching & Consulting - in November 2022.
He now serves directly with college-bound students and families to help them discover the right path to and through college. Mark and his wife, Crystal (also from Wisconsin), have lived in Durango since 2007 but will relocate to Denver so Crystal can pursue her graduate degree in genetic counseling at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Mark has served on the Shanta board since 2019, and he is inspired by the everyday stories of people creating community-led initiatives that transform their lives.

Wade Griffith

Wade is a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College and Vanderbilt University. While in graduate school, he was chosen for a Lilly Endowment program in Nicaragua. This new approach to humanitarian assistance captivated Wade. He spent the next twenty-two years of his life re-educating churches on development and humanitarian work that doesn't weaken communities by fostering dependence or undermining the self-reliance of the beneficiaries. His projects in Nicaragua involved medical clinics, clean water, housing, and education. An ordained pastor in the United Methodist Church, Wade has led three churches and served on staff in three others. His experience in church leadership has afforded him a wealth of experience in fundraising, volunteer recruitment, staff leadership, board development, and marketing.
Wade has a wife, Julia, and two boys, Wade III and Haines. In his spare time, Wade enjoys golf, backpacking, fishing, reading, exercise, college football, and gardening.
